Inspiralia to support new IKEA Austria customer distribution centre sustainable features

(23-09-19)

Swedish project was granted with €750.000 from the Climate and Energy Fund Austria

IKEA is aiming to become 100% resource and energy in depend. All new buildings must follow this corporate principle from scratch. The new IKEA customer distribution centre in Vienna’s 21st district - built on an area of 42.650 m2 - includes numerous innovative approaches to cover energy needs in form of heat, cooling and electricity. m27, Inspiralia’s affiliated company headquartered in Vienna, supported IKEA along the application process for environmental subsidies in the country.

m27 accompanied IKEA through all steps, ensuring all forms, documents and proof of the technical requirements of the client´s subsidy agreement were submitted in due time to the right agency, as well as all other payment conditions, and ultimately helping the company secure €750.000 from the Climate and Energy Fund Austria.

In the field of environmental promotion, Inspiralia not only operates as a company throughout Austria, but also at a European level.

About the project:

The building´s heating and cooling is done by a hybrid system which uses groundwater, ice storage – heat pump systems and solar air collectors made by Viessmann. The primary heat source is an ice storage tank located underground in combination with solar collectors. The volume of the ice storage tank acts as a heat source for 2 parallel operated brine/water heat pumps. In addition, the temperature level of the groundwater is used as a heat source for another heat pump. Both heat pump systems supply a central heating water buffer cylinder.

Free cooling systems, high-efficiency ventilation units with regenerative heat recovery for air conditioning, activation of the building core structure and a photovoltaic system complete the resource-saving concept. In addition to the direct use of this renewable electricity for heat and cooling supply and lightning, the photovoltaic system also supplies charging stations for e-bikes and electric employee- and customer vehicles.

The goal of this method is to generate the required energy itself and sustainable.
